Terms of Use
Using the journal and respecting its sources. Updated 28 October 2026.
Scope of these terms
These terms describe access to The Model Yard articles, worksheets, hypothetical examples and local browser features. Read them alongside the Privacy Policy and editorial standards. This edition offers no accounts, paid memberships, purchases or public posting service. Reading does not create a product-support contract or an electronic signature.
Educational purpose and practical limits
The journal provides general information about railway modelling, miniature scenery and collecting. It does not certify compatibility, guarantee a layout will operate, or replace professional engineering advice. A fictional scenario demonstrates a decision process rather than a tested outcome. Verify dimensions, product specifications and the edition of any relevant standard before applying an example.
Working safely
Follow current manufacturer instructions and appropriate precautions for tools, materials and equipment. A scenic or planning article is not an electrical, structural or chemical safety assessment. Where a task requires competence you do not have, seek suitably qualified help rather than treating a general article as an instruction to proceed.
Personal reading and sharing
You may read the journal, share page links and print articles or worksheets for personal, non-commercial reference. Keep attribution and any relevant qualifications with material you share. This permission concerns material the publisher is entitled to license; it does not expand rights in third-party photographs, standards or documents. Any rights provided by applicable law remain unaffected.
Editorial material and third-party rights
Original article text, page design and the journal identity are distinct from third-party assets. Do not republish complete articles, present them as your own or sell copies without appropriate permission. Third-party photographs retain their individual licences, which may permit uses beyond the limited personal permission above. Consult the image credits, linked licence and original source for the conditions that apply to each asset. A reference link is not permission to reproduce its source document.
Respectful and lawful use
Do not interfere with access, bypass security controls, distribute malicious code through site-related communications, impersonate another person or falsely imply an affiliation with the journal. Ordinary browsing and sharing links are welcome. The local form does not provide a public submission area or grant the publisher a blanket licence to anything you type.
References, organisations and external websites
Links help readers inspect evidence and licences. The journal does not control the availability, content or privacy practices of external websites. Mentioning a manufacturer, association, museum, railway or product does not establish sponsorship or endorsement. Third-party names and marks identify their respective owners.
Availability, accuracy and responsibility
Articles and browser features may be revised, unavailable or affected by errors. References and product requirements can change after publication, so no promise of uninterrupted access, completeness or suitability for a particular project is made. Readers remain responsible for checking how information applies to their own circumstances. Nothing here excludes a responsibility or right that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Corrections, permissions and contact
Identify the page and relevant passage or asset, explain the issue or proposed use, and provide supporting information. Contact: [email protected]. The contact page explains the local form's limits. No reply, rights clearance or permission is created merely by drafting a message.
Changes and unresolved publisher details
Revisions will be posted on this page with an updated date. No specific notice period, arbitration procedure, exclusive court or governing jurisdiction is invented for this website. The publisher's legal identity and any jurisdiction-specific public terms must be confirmed before release. This page does not override applicable mandatory rights or the permissions in a third-party licence.
